Dr. Joyce Mikal-Flynn, Founder of Metahab

Dr. Joyce Mikal-Flynn, Founder of Metahab and a Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University Sacramento, has revolutionized the way we understand recovery post-trauma. Her research has led to the development of Metahabilitation, a strengths-based clinical pathway that guides individuals toward PTG. With her extensive background in creating resilience and fostering PTG among trauma survivors, Dr. Mikal-Flynn brings invaluable insights to our discussion. Her publications include Turning Tragedy Into Triumph; Metahabilitation, A Contemporary Model of Rehabilitation (2012), and a second book, Anatomy of a Survivor: Building Resilience Grit and Growth After Trauma, published in April 2021.

Hassan Sabbagh, Founder of Nature of Sound and a dedicated community leader, channels his experience as a survivor to advocate and leader to combat human trafficking. From establishing impactful campaigns to leading the Solano Anti-Trafficking Coalition, Hassan's work exemplifies the intersection of advocacy, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Hassan was also the first male participant in the Metahab program for survivor empowerment.
